Microsoft's tiniest new Surface laptop has one big advantage over the pricier iPad Pro — but there are 2 key reasons why it's still not right for most people

© Microsoft Microsoft Microsoft's Surface Go 2 is a great tablet for entertainment and light productivity, thanks to its small size and useful kickstand. But to get the most out of it as a work device, you need to spend extra to purchase the keyboard cover and upgrade the processor. It has an advantage over the pricier iPad Pro in that it runs a desktop operating system, making it easy to work as you normally would on a laptop. But overall, there are other Windows devices and Chromebooks around the same price range that might be better suited for work depending on your needs.  Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. Microsoft's new miniature laptop-tablet hybrid, the Surface Go 2, sounds great on the surface. It starts at just $400, making it more affordable than most laptops and tablets. It's small enough to tote around in a moderately sized purse or small backpack. And most of all, it has a convenient and sturdily built hinge that ma

With the rise of the 2-in-1 detachable, you're able to from tablet to laptop and back just by connecting – or disconnecting – a keyboard. Unlike 2-in-1 laptops that feature a convertible design with a screen that flips over 360-degree, these devices were designed to be tablets first and get down to work with a keyboard and touch pad when you need it.Better yet, these hybrid devices are getting more powerful and are no longer best suited for web browsing and nothing more. Lenovo Yoga C940 Review: A Great Ice Lake 2-In-1 Laptop

Gambar
Variety is the spice of life. Nobody would be happy with just one flavor of ice cream, a single car, or the monotony of a single video game. Thankfully, we don't live in a world like that, so even premium 2-in-1 laptops come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. Today we're going to take a look at Lenovo's Yoga C940 convertible notebook, which is a bit different than some of the other foldable computers we have evaluated over the last few months. You see, the C940 is one of the bigger convertibles around. It's got a full 14-inch display and ample bezels, all of which make it larger than the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 or HP's Elite Dragonfly. There are trade-offs here, to be sure, like a bigger footprint and a bit more weight, but it's also got that larger screen for watching videos or editing documents. In fact, its dimensions have more in common with the recently-reviewed Asus Zephyrus G14 than those aforementioned ultrabooks. So, we'll spend some time with the C94

The Microsoft Surface Go 2 Might Be the Best Mini Laptop Yet

Gambar
From Best Products We judge laptops on a scale of 10, analyzing the categories we think are most important: design, display, and performance. Here's how the Microsoft Surface Go 2 stacks up. On the surface, there aren't a whole lot of differences between Microsoft's latest 2-in-1 laptop and its predecessor. As you'd expect, the all-new Surface Go 2 is a nicer machine overall that packs a more powerful processor and a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen — fortunately without increasing the base model's $399 asking price. Key Specs • Intel Pentium Gold 4425Y or eighth-generation Intel Core m3 dual-core processor• 10.5-inch PixelSense display• 4/8 GB of RAM; 64 GB eMMC or 128 GB SSD• One USB-C port, Surface Connector, MicroSD card reader, headphone jack• LTE connectivity available for extra charge I spent a few days testing the Microsoft Surface Go 2. Although I couldn't use it on the go like the name implies I should, I did my best to use it for the tasks you'd likel

Great laptop deals are landing this weekend, thanks to the ongoing memorial day sales from the likes of Best Buy, HP, Dell, Microsoft and Lenovo.  Right now, for example, you can pick up a powerful Ryzen 5 equipped HP 15 for just $499 (was $599) at Best Buy. This premium laptop manages to pack in a massive 12GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD - meaning it's a great option for those of you looking for a powerful, but cheap working from home machine. If you need something a little cheaper you can also spring for this HP 17z for just $379.99 (was $539), featuring a $160 discount thanks to the official HP store memorial day sale.  We've also got some fantastic offers from Dell this weekend, such as this Inspiron 17 3000 for $649.99 (was $719) and XPS 13 for $849.99 (was $899). Memorial Day Alienware sale saves you up to $445 on the Alienware m15 laptop and Alienware Aurora R8 PC

Gambar
Memorial Day deals have officially landed, and this Alienware sale might have some of the most tempting offers we've seen so far. Indeed, Dell has slashed the price of an Alienware m15 R1 gaming laptop by $445  and the very powerful Alienware Aurora R8 gaming desktop by $200. That's a significant discount on great gaming tech. In particular, the Alienware m15 R1 wins a gong as one of the best gaming laptops in our opinion thanks to its 9th-gen i7 processor and respectable 1660 Ti graphics card. It may not be able to handle more demanding games at their highest settings, but it'll still serve you well. And at just $1,299.99 instead of over $1,700, that's good value for money in this Memorial Day Alienware sale. Elsewhere, the Alienware Aurora R8 desktop impresses with its 9th-gen i7 CPU and a very tempting RTX 2070 Super graphics card for incredibly high-quality visuals. This is still one of Alienware's best machines, even though it's since been replaced with t

Razer Outfits Blade Pro 17 Gaming Laptop With 300Hz Display

Gambar
You'll soon be able to buy Razer's heavy-duty Blade Pro 17 gaming laptop with a 300Hz display. The 2020 version of the Blade Pro 17 has been upgraded to support the insanely high 300-frame-per-second refresh rate. "If you're playing those high frame rate, competitive titles, this laptop is going to be amazing," said Eugene Kuo, Razer's senior marketing manager. (Credit: Razer) The 300Hz LED panel itself has a 1,920-by-1,080-pixel resolution. But if you're a content creator, you can also get the Blade Pro 17 with a 4K touch-screen panel. On the downside, you'll have to settle for a slower 120Hz refresh rate.  The other notable change is to the silicon inside. Razer has bumped up the 6-core chip to an 8-core beast by using Intel's 10th-generation "Comet Lake-H" Core i7-10875H processor, which features a 5.1GHz boost speed.  (Credit: Razer) (Credit: Razer) According to Razer, the casing on the 2020 model hasn't been changed much, but

Origin PC's refreshed EON17-X laptop has a high-end Intel desktop chip

Gambar
The rig can support up to 64GB of RAM, with space for up to four DDR4 RAM sticks — more than enough for most gamers but if you're a RAM hog you might want to hold out for 128GB support, which Origin says is coming soon. There are several display options available, too, all supporting NVIDIA G-SYNC, including the 17.3" 240Hz 1080p display and 17.3" 60Hz UHD 4K display. Connectivity comes in the form of Thunderbolt 3, mini display port and HDMI ports, plus five USB ports, so if you want to add extra screens you've got a lot of choice about how you do it. Naturally, there's a full RGB per key backlit keyboard, too. Of course, it's not cheap — it's all the grunt power of a desktop artfully packed into a laptop, after all — so the EON17-X will set you back at least $2,599, more depending on your desired specs. You can also get your machine UV printing, laser etching or a custom paint job while you're at it. This g

Your laptop’s unused computing power can help scientists find COVID-19 treatments

Gambar
For most people, the COVID-19 pandemic has meant staying inside and, probably, spending a lot of extra time staring at your computer. It may not feel like you've been doing much, but that decision to stay home has been important to limiting the virus's spread. Now, you can make another contribution to public health—helping scientists work to find potential COVID-19 treatments—just by doing the screen time you were doing before. Anyone in the world with a PC, Mac, Android phone, or Raspberry Pi, and an internet connection can help scientists perform virtual experiments to identify which chemical compounds could be used in treatments for COVID-19, through a project from IBM and Scripps Research called OpenPandemics – COVID-19. That project uses IBM's World Community Grid, a crowdsourced computing network, to harness your computer's unused processing power to create a virtual supercomputer for scientists. These computational tools simulate what may happen in a lab experi

When you buy through our links, we may earn money from our affiliate partners. Learn more. The new Dell XPS 15 laptop is available now for a $1,300 starting price. The XPS 15 comes with a slick redesign that packs plenty of punch in its otherwise small frame. Dell also brought back its XPS 17, which offers a similar design, but a bigger screen for power users. Dell's XPS lineup has long been one of the most popular options for Windows laptop buyers. It combines a stellar design with solid power to create one of the better values in the company's lineup. For 2020, Dell has upped the ante with a new XPS 15 redesign that streamlines the laptop by reducing bezel size around the screen, and generally creating a more compact design than what you'd find in the previous model. And, although it's borrowing the same name from its predecessor, this year's XPS 15 has a bigger 16:10 display aspect ratio. Even better, Dell announced the XPS 15 al

Dell Announces the New XPS 17 Laptop for Creators

Dell announced two new XPS models with optional 4K Ultra HD screens, supporting 100% Adobe RGB and 94% DCI-PC color gamuts. In terms of specs and performance, the 17-inch model will be the biggest rival of the new 16-inch Macbook Pro. Design and Display On the outside, the new XPS 17 has slim bezels on the display, which reduces its size to a standard 15-inch laptop's dimensions. According to Dell, the new XPS 17 is smaller than 48% of the 15-inch laptops on the market. The standard FHD display supports 100% sRGB and the optional 4K Ultra HD+ touch display supports 100% Adobe RGB color gamut and both displays are covered with anti-reflective Corning Gorilla Glass 6. MSI's GS66 Stealth Gaming Laptop Packs Big Specs and Thankfully Goes Light on the RGB

Gambar
There's always something I've appreciated about powerful gadgets that are able to hide their power levels. I'm talking about stuff like the Volkswagen Phaeton W12 that had essentially the same engine you got in a flashy Bentley Continental (minus a couple turbos), but in a car that looked like, well, a VW. In short, gadgets that appear normal, but can go toe-to-toe with any rogue Saiyans that just dropped in from outer space and want to take over the world. And that sort of exemplifies what you get with the MSI's new GS66 Stealth.Instead of the more stylish black-and-gold color scheme MSI used on the GS65 from 2018, for 2020 MSI gave its flagship 15-inch gaming laptop a black-on-black paint job more befitting its stealthy name. Even the MSI logo on the laptop's lid is little more than a subtle shadow, and with nary an indicator light or pulsing RGB lighting on the outside of the system, it's much easier to take the GS66 out in public without instantly signali
